About Me
I’m Karen McKevitt, certified Life Coach, Certified CIJ - Insight for Life (Kids & Teens) Instructor and Board Certified Advocate in Special Education (BCASE). I’ve volunteered with children and teens for 10 years before transitioning to this type of work.

Having worked with Girl Scouts as a Co-Leader, a Co-Den Leader for Cub Scouts, I was front row watching my children grow through these experiences, while having the utter privilage of helping others in their group. I often thanked parents for allowing me to the opportunity to partner with them on their child’s journey.

While in a career transition, coaching found it’s way into my life. Originally working with adults, a family reached out inquiring and my real journey began. I even became a school bus driver during that time and had lots of opportunities to test my newfound skills!
My volunteer time didn’t stop, of course. For my son’s Boy Scout Troop, I am chair of their Board of Review Committee. This allows me more time to ease fears of the process and ask questions in an undaunting way. It’s a great way to encourage scouts during this time of their personal achievements.

As a mom of two teenagers, I’m in the storm of teenager moods and frustration. Every teenager I work with is treated with kindness and love. I’m mom first. But, I get the benefit of not being every teenager’s parent, so I get to be a safe person to talk to. I truly enjoy my work and wish I would have found it sooner!
